Principal flute of the Philadelphia Orchestra since 1990; previously principal flute with the Cleveland Orchestra. Has performed numerous concertos ranging from Bach and Mozart to Nielsen, Ibert, and Corigliano, as well as premieres by Hans Werner Henze, Ned Rorem, and many others. Many solo CDs on the Avie, Chesky, and Naxos labels. Faculty, Curtis Institute, since 1985; teacher and clinician, Solti Orchestral Project at Carnegie Hall, New World Symphony, Hamamatsu Festival, Grand Teton Festival, Sarasota Music Festival, and Pacific Music Festival.

Appearances: Lincoln Center Great Performers; Chamber Music Society of L.C. Soloist with London, Chicago, Houston, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Netherlands Concertgebouw, and many other orchestras. Festivals: Aspen, Aldeburgh, Budapest Spring, Marlboro, Mostly Mozart, Norfolk, Santa Fe, Spoleto, Sarasota, Music@Menlo. Tours: Asia, Europe, Russia, and South America. Degrees and Studies:
B.M., Curtis Institute of Music. Trained at the North Carolina School of the Arts and the Curtis Institute of Music as a traditional woodwind player. 
 
Biographical Information:
Early fascination with J.S. Bach led her to the Baroque flauto traverso. Frequent performances and recordings with many period-instrument ensembles, including the American Classical Orchestra, Clarion Music Society, Sinfonia New York, New York Collegium, Boston's Handel and Haydn Society, Tafelmusik, and American Bach Soloists. As a founding member and associate director of the ensemble Concert Royal, has toured throughout the U.S. and in Canada, England, Germany, Brazil, and Mexico. Solo recordings: complete Bach Flute Sonatas and, on six- and eight-keyed classical flutes, the three Mozart concertos. Winner of the Concert Artists Guild Competition, the Erwin Bodky Competition for Early Music, and a solo recitalist's fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. Professor of music (now emerita), SUNY-Purchase College Conservatory of Music; former faculty, Mannes College the New School for Music, C.C.N.Y. doctoral program, New England Conservatory of Music, and Kulas Visiting Artist at Case Western Reserve.
